Have you ever felt like you’re carrying everyone’s world on your shoulders?
It’s a quiet, relentless weight — not just physical, but emotional. You might notice it most when you finally sit down, and the shoulders still won’t drop. Even rest feels like work.
Many of my clients come to me believing they have “tight shoulders” from posture, stress, or long hours at the desk. But beneath that tension often lies something far deeper — years of unspoken responsibility. Holding it all together for others, holding back tears, holding your breath.
One woman came to me, her shoulders so tight they almost met her ears. She spoke softly, but her whole body shouted strain. She’d spent decades being the reliable one — for her children, her parents, her colleagues. And yet she felt invisible.
During our session, I guided her into gentle awareness. No forcing, no stretching. Just noticing. As her shoulders began to soften, tears welled. She whispered, “I didn’t realise how much I’ve been holding.”
That moment wasn’t about technique — it was about permission.
Permission to stop holding everything. To let her body speak.

Through the Alexander Technique and the Art of Empathic Somatics, I helped her reconnect with her natural poise. We explored how every breath could lift her, rather than weigh her down. Over a few sessions, the tension that had built up over years began to melt away.
She left standing taller, breathing easier, and — more importantly — feeling lighter in herself.
Pain in the shoulders is often pain from carrying too much. When we learn to release the inner weight, the physical body follows.
If your shoulders feel like they’re holding more than they should, maybe it’s time to set the load down and let your body remember how ease truly feels.
very ache, every twinge, every stiffness is an invitation.
Your body isn’t betraying you — it’s speaking to you.
Through the Alexander Technique, Empathic Somatics, and the Energy Alignment Method, I help clients release the layers of tension that have built up over years — the physical, emotional, and energetic holding that keeps them small and tired.
When awareness returns, movement follows.
When you stop fighting with your body, it starts working for you again.
If something in this story resonated:
if you recognise yourself in the holding, the stiffness, or the quiet ache that just won’t shift perhaps it’s time to listen to what your body’s been trying to tell you.
You don’t have to do it alone.
I can help you come home to yourself — lighter, freer, and grounded in ease.
